In July 2018, Lang Lang visited his ancestral home in Dongfeng County, Liaoning Province on a "root seeking journey" and donated music classrooms to Yangmulin School to help rural children learn music. He hoped that through such behavior, his great grandfather's educational spirit could be extended.
